Does the cooking process degrade the nutrient value of the food?

That depends on how you cook it.

Dog food manufacturers who produce cooked meals do so utilizing extremely high heats and a boiling process. Cooking anything in extremely high heat kills many of the natural enzymes inherent within food, and also degrades the nutrient profile of the food. The boiling process is even worse, and over 85% of all nutrients are lost when boiled.

How does this compare to the PetStaurant? It doesn’t.

We do not boil any of our foods, and do not cook applying high heats. Our foods are seared on the outside which preserves the internal nutrient profile of the meat. The vegetables we use are mildly steamed to increase digestibility. Dogs actually have a very difficulty time digesting raw vegetable fiber. Once cooked, however, dogs are able to absorb the nutrient profile and phytochemicals in plant substances.
